Taiwan Geophysical Network for Seismology (TGNS)

1999 Precursory Study TGNS Established

After the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, for the purpose of earthquake precursory study, in cooperation with academia, CWB began to build and maintain the Taiwan Geophysical Network for Seismology (TGNS) to collect geophysical data.

💡 Network Status & Scale

Currently, there are four types of geophysical station arrays deployed, including:

  • 163 continuous Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) stations
  • 20 geoelectric stations
  • 12 geomagnetic stations
  • 6 Groundwater stations
